FRAGILE: A Group Ceramic Exhibition at Dogwood Arts will showcase functional and sculptural ceramic art from emerging and established artists throughout our region. The juried exhibition will take place at the Dogwood Arts Gallery in Downtown Knoxville. Dogwood Arts will be awarding a $350 gift card to Mighty Mud to one exhibiting artist and another $150 Mighty Mud gift card to one artist on the mug wall.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years and older residing within a 200 mile radius of Downtown Knoxville. The artist must be able to deliver the artwork to the gallery. Work must have been completed in the last two years. 3-D over 100 lbs must be installed/picked-up by the artist and should not exceed a 4’ x 4’ footprint.
This call is open to both functional and sculptural ceramics.
Awards: Awards totaling $500 will be presented at the Opening Reception on November 1st, 2024 at the Dogwood Arts Gallery from 5-8 pm. All awards are designated by the juror and are final. All artists accepted into the show are encouraged to attend the Opening Reception at the Dogwood Arts Gallery on November 1st.
Online Entry Procedure: There is a $5 non-refundable fee per application (you may submit up to three works per application). Jury results will be forwarded via email.
Sales: The following commission applies to all sales: 20% commission on sales to cover transaction fees and taxes. Sold works are to remain in the exhibition until its official close (although some exceptions may be considered). Work is NOT required to be for sale.
Handling: Dogwood Arts agrees to handle all artwork with proper care so that artwork will not be damaged, excepting ordinary wear and tear. Dogwood Arts shall not be liable for damage or loss caused by war, confiscation, order of any government or public authority, or by any and all causes beyond the control of Dogwood Arts.
Theft, Damage or Loss: Dogwood Arts agrees to notify Artist within 36 hours by telephone, e-mail, and/or written notification upon the event of any theft, damage or loss that occurs while artwork is in the possession of Dogwood Arts. In the event of loss or damage to artwork at fault of Dogwood Arts, Dogwood Arts agrees to compensate up to reasonable market value on each artwork as agreed upon by Artist and Dogwood Arts Executive Director.
Insurance/Artwork Inventory: If necessary, Artist will insure work above that amount. Artist must furnish Dogwood Arts with an inventory of artwork to be exhibited, including the title, media, and sale price prior to the exhibition opening (this will come from the information you provide in this application). Unclaimed work is not insured after the posted pick-up date. Artists are responsible for insuring work while in transit.
Transportation: The artist is responsible for delivering all accepted pieces to Dogwood Arts on October 22nd or October 23rd. The artist is responsible for picking up any unsold works from Dogwood Arts on Monday, December 9th.
Installation: Work should be ready to exhibit. Dogwood Arts reserves the right to inspect and, if necessary, prepare or request Artist to prepare the artwork for exhibition according to said standards. Dogwood Arts reserves the right to refuse to display any object for any reason.
Wall-hung work must be ready to hang and come with detailed instructions. The artist must include all hanging devices required for the installation. Artists may be asked to install artwork themselves on installation day.
Publicity: The artist agrees to provide Dogwood Arts with biographical information, artist's statement, digital images, and other materials as requested. Artist agrees to allow Dogwood Arts to photograph Artist's artwork for publicity, education, and catalog purposes.
